Réne Roman Search and Rescue Team

On March 10, 2017, the 13-year-old René Tracey Roman from Lavender Hill was kidnapped, raped and murdered. Only two weeks after her disappearance, she was found close to her home by community members from Lavender Hill.

As the number of children being kidnapped, abused and killed at the Cape Flats are rising, Philisa Abafazi Bethu founded the "René Roman Search and Rescue Team" as additional child protection service. Once a child is reported missing, parents can call our organisation on 021 802 4030 or 076 270 3050 and the Search and Rescue Team will assist with the search. Our team members are trained in firts aid, know the area very well and follow a structured search plan in order to find children as soon as possible. We work closely together with local police departments.

Also the Rescue Team intervenes where children are at unsavoury houses.
