Community Feeding and Mandala Stone Garden

The covid – 19 and the hard lockdown exacerbated food insecurity in our communities. At Philisa Abafazi Bethu we understand that food brings peace and healing in the home and families. Thanks to all (inter)national donors and partners, we have built our own organic vegetable garden at the Philisa Abafazi Bethu Women and Family Center. We harvest every four weeks, sustaining our kitchen which in turn feeds our community. We also use the garden and the community feeding scheme as an opportunity to educate our clients, the children and young people about gardening, cooking, and healthy living and therefore provide further life skills. In addition to our vegetable garden our Mandala Stone Garden serves as healing space where people can come to relax and breath, smell the fresh air and our traditional herbs and plants.
